The construction industry wants more highly skilled workers allowed into New Zealand, and it has a plan of its own to quarantine them. In Auckland, specialised tunneling and mining workers who can construct the $4.4 billion City Rail Link are desperately needed. Some believe the waiting game could become expensive for the sector, and businesses say it needs to be easier to bring the workers in.

New art museum for central Christchurch to open in April

A new $16 million art museum will be open in central Christchurch in April after the Covid-19 lockdown delayed construction by three months. The Ravenscar House Museum on Rolleston Ave was originally set to be completed by 2018 and cost $13m, but design complications and the lockdown added another $3m to the construction price and delayed the opening.
