The Government announced on Wednesday that New Zealand will do away with vaccine passes and vaccine mandates for some of the workforce on 4 April, in a major loosening of the country’s tough COVID-19 restrictions. The COVID-19 protection framework, known as the traffic-light system, will stay in place but will remain flexible to change, including if new variants of the virus emerge.

In April 2021 MBIE sought feedback from Licensed Building Practitioners (LBPs) and those who engage with them on potential issues within the LBP scheme. Overall, the feedback affirmed that the potential issues have been accurately identified and shows there are high levels of support for changes in these areas.

NZIOB Chief Executive Malcolm Fleming provided notice to the NZIOB Board this week that he is moving to a fellow construction sector membership association, New Zealand Certified Builders (NZCB), where he will take up the position of Chief Executive.
