NZ Building Industry Awards Ceremony & Gala Dinner

Following industry feedback, the New Zealand Building Industry Awards will revert to a single venue for its 2021 Ceremony & Gala Dinner on Friday, 13 August. The vertical industry’s ‘big night’ will be again held in the Great Room of the Cordis Hotel. General ticket sales to non-finalists open on Monday (14 June).

NZIOB Elections: Voting opens 15 June

 The 2021 NZIOB election is the Institute’s second under the 2019 NZIOB Constitution. Following the closing of nominations on 13 May, the Institute is in the enviable position of having a greater number of candidates than there are positions to fill, therefore an online election will occur to determine the successful candidate for those positions.

2021 NZIOB AGM and Site Tour

The NZIOB Central Region Committee will be hosting this year’s AGM in Wellington on 13 July. The event will begin with a site tour of the Indian High Commission in Thorndon, followed by project presentations and AGM at the National Library.

Construction Contracts (Retention Money) Amendment Bill passes first reading

The Construction Contracts (Retention Money) Amendment Bill, which provides greater financial protection for subcontractors, passed its first reading on the 8th of June. The Bill amends the retention provisions in the Construction Contracts Act 2002 (CCA) to provide increased confidence and transparency for subcontractors that the retention money they are owed is safe.
