The NZ Institute of Building Charitable Education Trust is very excited to announce Cody Everson - New Zealand Wheel Blacks as our guest speaker to this year's luncheon taking place on Friday 23 May 2025.

Based in Christchurch, Cody Everson is a dedicated athlete and a core member of the New Zealand Wheel Blacks wheelchair rugby team.

At 15, Cody sustained a spinal injury during a 1st XV rugby game, resulting in tetraplegia. Determined to stay active, he took up wheelchair rugby in 2012, and within just two years, he earned a spot on the New Zealand Wheel Blacks. Since then, he has competed around the world, including at the Tokyo Paralympic Games.

Beyond the game, Cody’s journey has taken him through major life milestones. He married his wife, Jess, and together they navigated the challenges of IVF to welcome their son Emilio in 2022, followed by the arrival of their second son, Deluca, in 2025.

As a speaker, Cody brings raw honesty, humour, and inspiration to every talk. His message is clear: No challenge is too big. Through his own experiences of resilience and adaptability, he encourages others to push past limitations and strive for their best. No two talks are the same—he speaks from the heart, sharing his journey as it is, in the moment. 'Don’t let what you can’t do affect what you can do.'

The NZIOB Charitable Education Trust raises money to provide grants and scholarships to students and young professionals within the build environment.
