Description
This project is a major investment in New Zealand’s parliamentary infrastructure, delivering safe, modern, and fit for purpose accommodation for Members of Parliament and parliamentary staff. The programme responds to long standing space constraints within the precinct and removes reliance on leased off site accommodation, while significantly improving resilience, sustainability, and operational efficiency.
The visit will focus on the new buildings under construction to the west of Parliament House, including the six storey Museum Street Building, designed to accommodate 600+ staff across approximately 5,800 m², and the Ballantrae Place Building, which will centralise deliveries and enhance safety and security.
The Museum Street Building is targeting a 6 Star Green Star rating, incorporates base isolation and mass timber construction, and has been developed in close collaboration with mana whenua.
The tour will begin with an overview from the project architect, followed by a series of site stations where attendees will hear directly from members of the wider project team on design, construction, sustainability, and seismic performance.
The visit will conclude with drinks and nibbles at Huxley’s, kindly sponsored by LT McGuinness and in conjunction with NZIQS and NAWIC.
