Building Institute & Kalmar Fishing Competition 2027

The Building Institute Aotearoa & Kalmar Construction Fishing Competition returns for 2027, bringing our construction community together for a relaxed day of friendly competition on the water.

Join fellow members, colleagues and industry friends at Gulf Harbour on Friday 12 March 2027 for a memorable social event hosted in partnership with Kalmar Construction.

Bring your crew, your bait and, importantly, your boat, for a full day on the water, followed by a meal, prizegiving and the chance to reconnect with others across the industry. 

Registrations are now open. Numbers are limited, so tickets will be available on a first-in, first-served basis.

Prize Categories: Snapper, Kingfish, Trevally, John Dory, Kahawai, heaviest fish caught by a woman + spot prizes!

Date: Friday 12 March 2027

Time: 6am - 5pm (weigh in 2:30pm-3:15pm followed by prizegiving)

Where: Gulf Harbour Yacht Club, 1299 Laurie Southwick Parade, Auckland 0930

Meeting point: Club rooms or boat ramp

Catering: The yacht club will provide food for when the crew is back. Skippers to provide lunches and drinks for their crews.

Cost: Members $89 + GST per person. Non-members $99 + GST per person

Deadline for registrations: Registrations must be finalised, and each team member's details must be added to your ticket by 28 February 2027. 

Health and safety are a shared priority for this water-based event. We want everyone to enjoy the day, connect with others and return safely.

• Each boat skipper must be the communication point of contact.
• The Institute will contact each skipper to confirm participant’s names and contact details.
• The skipper will help share event updates, health and safety information, and any participant dietary requirements or food allergies.
• Skippers are responsible for understanding the event rules and following good boating practice to support the safety of everyone on board.
