Site Visit to the Thermosash Headquarters

Join David Hayes, Founder and Managing Director of Thermosash Commercial and Kent Nixon, Group Director – Strategy Products and Projects and Project Architect for Project Kereru, for an exclusive behind-the-scenes visit to Thermosash’s Henderson headquarters and advanced façade manufacturing facility.

The visit will begin with a presentation on the Thermosash business, its role in delivering high-performance façade systems across New Zealand, and the growing importance of prefabrication, sustainability and whole-of-life building performance. The highlight of the afternoon will be the story of Project Kereru – the remarkable conversion of a 27,000m² former furniture megastore into one of New Zealand’s most modern façade manufacturing and corporate facilities.

Visitors will tour the factory and learn how Building Information Modelling (BIM), CAD/CAM design, CNC manufacturing and prefabrication are transforming the construction industry. Along the way, attendees will discover some impressive project statistics, including the removal and recycling of 7,000m² (1,760 tonnes) of concrete floor slab, 484 tonnes of structural steel, and the achievement of a 99% demolition recycling rate and 95.8% overall waste diversion rate. The tour will also showcase how Thermosash retained 92% of the existing structure and 97% of the building façade, demonstrating how adaptive reuse can dramatically reduce embodied carbon while creating a world-class industrial workplace.
